Stage 5 – Les Karellis presented by Flexadin Advanced

This wednesday 12th of january, the mushers faced each other on the stage 5 – Les Karellis presented by Flexadin Advanced. The longest stage since the beginning of this 19th edition of La Grande Odyssée VVF.

The day’s stage started at 4 pm with a very particular profile: a difficult course, with 1330 meters of positive difference in altitude for 38 km. A less technical route than the day before, with harder snow and better visibility. This stage was intense and put the mushers and their teams to the test.

At the end of the race, it is Rémy COSTE (FR) who wins in front of Sissel WOLF MØLMEN (NORV.) who finishes in second position, 9 minutes and 19 seconds later, followed by Hans LINDAHL (NORV.) who takes the third step of the podium. In the LIMITED category, the title holder Aurélie DELATTRE (FR) takes back her place of leader against Cindy DUPORT (FR) who finishes in 2nd position. Thibaut CAYROCHE (FR) takes the third place.

For the fifth stage, the Wamine Dog Care chasuble rewarding an act of benevolence of the musher towards his team, was attributed to Cindy DUPORT. Despite the major mechanical breakdown that the musher suffered the day before the race, she took the time to let her dogs relax and hydrated them properly, even if it meant being very short on preparation.

Tomorrow, the start is in Bonneval-sur-Arc at 9:30 am for stage 6 – Bonneval-sur-Arc presented by Zolux, followed by the Aussois challenge presented by Zolux at 7 pm on the Front de Neige of the Aussois resort. Tomorrow also marks the beginning of the Royal Canin Trophy. La Grande Odyssée VVF village will be in place from 2pm to 8:30pm in Aussois.
