Stage 1: Megève presented by Caisse d’Epargne Rhône-Alpes
It was at Côte 2000 in Megève that the first “Megève” stage of La Grande Odyssée VVF, presented by the Caisse d’Epargne Rhône-Alpes, took place.
It is in a Nordic setting, under the snow, that the 23 teams took the start of the traditional stage of Megève, at Côte 2000 at 11am yesterday morning.
This short but fast race, which does not count for the general classification of the race, allowed the dog-athletes to stretch their legs in order to be ready for the next stages. In the OPEN category, the French Rémy COSTE won against the Norwegian Sissel WOLF MØLMEN, while the French Jean COMBAZARD finished in 3rd position. In the LIMITED category, it is a 100% French podium, with Aurélie DELATTRE in first position, followed by Elsa BORGEY and Anthony KALISCH.
This 1st stage also marked the first day of the Trophy 1. During 3 days, from the 8th to the 10th of January, some mushers join the main race. It is the French Jocelyne COMBAZARD who wins this first stage.
The Wamine Dog Care chasuble, which rewards a highlight in the care of dogs, was awarded to Aurélie DELATTRE for the rigor with which she manages the health of her athletes throughout the year.
Today, Monday, January 9, the race continues in the Abondance Valley for the 2nd stage – “Pays D’Evian Vallée d’Abondance – Bernex – La Chapelle – Châtel” presented by Tomojo.
