Organized on Wednesday January 12, 2022 in Megève, in the footsteps of the official stage of the Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont-Blanc, this new edition of the Odyssey for All is a real “personal development” project to prepare around fifteen adolescents with disabilities to enter the professional world.

The Odyssey for All is a project led by ActivHandi and Décathlon France around “personal development”. The association Vag de bien-être is also an engaged actor in this project.

Vag de bien-être is an association dedicated to self-esteem, the enhancement of skills and in the case of the Odyssey for all, group cohesion, self-confidence and showing that disability is not a brake to achieve your goals or realize your dreams. Maybe we will have to take side roads to get there, but in the end, the goal is to overcome your fears, trust yourself and find your own identity despite the handicap, whether it be from birth, as a result of illness or accident.

The Odyssey for All welcomes 14 young people (19 to 25 years old) from the IME of Cluses on La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc during stage 4 in Megève to complete a demonstration loop supervised by a professional musher.

An educational process

More than a baptism, it is a real initiation into driving a team that is organized with these teenagers. The Odyssey for All should lead them to take the start in the skin of a musher before the Megève stage, and thus complete their race, to the extent of their ability …

To get there, they will have experienced a first encounter with the canine environment in an educational kennel, visiting the Decathlon Mountain Store in order to have a slightly more concrete vision of the trades and the business world, learned to drive a team on snow …

Back in class after La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc, the young people will take stock and prepare for their entry into the professional world.

The result of a partnership with the Institut Médico Educatif de Cluses, Hactivhandi and Decathlon France, the Odyssée Pour Tous will allow young people to live a great adventure while working on their personal and professional dream, the identification of their strengths, their skills by giving them the opportunity to take responsibility.

Beyond the encounter with the sports community of the Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc, it is a real human experience that these 14 young enthusiasts will live.
