Stage 7 – 16/01/2021 – Valmorel
Presented by La Caisse d’Epargne Rhône-Alpes
Valmorel resort hosted today the 7th Edition of La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc presented by Caisse d’Epargne Rhône-Alpes.
Today is the first round of the Eukanuba Trophee as well.
The 20 kilometers course and 1000 meters of elevation was taking place exclusively on the alpine area.
The race conditions were much better than the previous day once the fine weather and generous sun has returned. That was a great competitors moral booster for this stage which was probably the most physical step of La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc.
The 30 sleddogs teams took the start in the centre of Valmorel station, on the sled run to reach straight the Lanchettes summit. This is the highest spot of the course with a 1800 altitude meters. The competitors were able to contemplate a magnificent panorama on the massif de la Lauzière, the Beaufortain chain, and a breathtaking view -different from the one they had at Les Gets and Praz de Lys- on the majestic Mont Blanc.
Some Representatives -including Vincent Roland Co-Chair of Savoie Mont-Blanc and Board Member of Savoie- were present to welcome the mushers upon their arrival in Doucy station.
Category open, Remy Coste got on the first step of the podium for the today’s stage and the general ranking. Without any surprise, Cindy Duport has maintained his position as the leader of the limited category and general ranking. The Eukanuba Trophee was won by Iker Ozkoidifor today and is first in general ranking.
The 8th stage of la Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc will run in Bessans / Bonneval-les-Arcs.
