Jaco has found his dog

Share
Finally after two days, Jaco-Alex Ullman has managed to find his dog.

That young dog managed to get unhooked on the finish line of the stage 7. He ran away in the trail on the way back. A trailbreaker took Jaco on a snowmobile to try to catch the dog. But they couldn't find him. Yesterday a member from the LGO staff got a phonecall.  The dog had been seen close the starting area of the same stage. He ran the whole trail whole the way to the start, looking for the last place he saw his truck.

Dogs have an amazing capacity to memorize trails they've been on, even if they've run there once and even in the other way. In the stressful situation of his escape, the dog main idea was to get to the last place where he saw Jaco's truck to find the reassuring calm of his dogbox. Hopefully the dog was remarkable with his blue harness on.

For Jaco and Helga, those two days have been extremely stressful and exhausting. They spend the whole time hiking in the mountain to find the dog. And their relief when they finally got him was as huge as their anxiety. Jaco and the dogs will now join the rest of the mushers for the mass start in Bessans this afternoon. The rules allow him to do so but he will be now last in the rankings as he has skipped a stage. The whole LGO staff has been delighted to hear that the dog was found and that Jaco was back in the race.

Welcome back Jaco !
