After the problems that happened during stage 5 when 15 mushers out of 18 lost the trail, and the musher meeting that was held at the end of the stage, Emil Inauen has decided to stop here his race because of a disagreement with the race direction. Barbara has decided to leave with him. Aki Holck has also left yesterday night for the same reasons.
All the mushers but those 3 has started the 6th stage going from Les Saisies to Crest-Voland. The race direction has decided to shorten the stage and transform it into a transition stage with no time taken to allow the dogs and the mushers to recover from the efforts they did since the beginning of the race. This decision has been taken regarding the positive temperatures that made the efforts tougher these last days.
The Megève Challenge will be held tonight in the heart of Megève. This unique show is a very short stage which is a nice way to present the dogs and the mushers in an awesome ambiance. This challenge doesn't count into the general rankings but a ranking will be made and a 2 000 $ purse will be shared by the three first mushers.
We'll be back to the competition tomorrow morning with the stage 7 that will lead the dogs and mushers from Megève to Notre Dame de Bellecombe in one of the most amazing landscape a sleddog team could travel, right under the majestic roof of Europe, The Mont-Blanc.
