Les trois premiers mushers de l'édition 2008 de la Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc, Petter Karlsson, Emil Inauen, Ketil Reitan, sont au départ de la Femundløpet.

Cette course débute mardi 31 janvier en Norvège. La Femundløpet est la plus grande course mondiale de traîneau à chiens au regard de son nombre de participants.

140 mushers sont cette année au départ. En plus du podium LGO, le Français Daniel Juillaguet et le Suisse Pierre-Antoine Héritier seront sur la ligne de départ.

Henry Kam, responsable de l'organisation de LGO, est invité par ses homologues à suivre cette grande compétition. Ce sera pour les organisateurs de LGO et de la Femundløpet l'occasion de discuter d'éventuels projets communs, visant à développer le sport de traîneau longue distance.

Femundløpet is now again the biggest long distance race in the world, regarding to number of participants..now more than 140 mushers are ready for start. Also more than 300 volunteers are ready.
