Petter Karlsson, Suède, remporte la quatrième édition de La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc en 36h 3mn devant le Suisse Emil Inauen à 32 mn et le Norvégien Ketil Reitan à 1h18mn du leader.
13h50mn : Larsh, chien de tête de l’attelage du suédois Petter Karlsson franchit le premier, à Valcenis Lanslebourg, la ligne d’arrivée. Petter se précipite sur ses chiens pour les féliciter.
« C’est vraiment la plus belle course ! Je veux vraiment remercier toute l’organisation et tous les bénévoles ! Je ne connais pas un autre endroit au monde où de telles choses se passent » déclare Petter. Le public applaudit, toute l’organisation est présente, Dominique Grandjean, Directeur de la course et Henry Kam, patron de l’organisation, s’étreignent.
Emil Inauen monte sur la seconde marche du podium à seulement 32mn38s de Petter Karlsson. « Il a été le plus fort; il a fait une course extraordinaire; nous nous retrouverons l’année prochaine », déclare l’infatigable compétiteur. Le Norvégien Ketil Reitan termine second de l’étape, et prend la troisième place du classement général après avoir remporté plusieurs étapes en Haute Maurienne Vanoise.
Malgré les chutes de neige abondantes, ce sont plus de 1000 spectateurs qui applaudissent, dans une ambiance de fête les « finishers » Caroline Morin et Christian Duchesne, représentant le Québec, franchissent la ligne d’arrivée, revêtus de leur drapeau. Leurs handlers (Aide musher) entament « un quadrille » endiablé.
« La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc est maintenant vraiment installée dans le panorama mondial des plus grandes courses de chiens de traîneaux; c’est la seule course à proposer autant de diversité de terrain, autant de dénivelés. Nous avons des étapes de vitesse, des étapes de montagne avec des franchissements de cols (col de Cou, col de Very), des étapes d’endurance de plus de 90km » explique Dominique Grandjean, Directeur de la course.
« Plus de 1000 personnes se sont impliquées dans l’organisation de cette quatrième édition. Plus de 50 000 spectateurs sont venus soutenir ces véritables marathoniens. Nous garderons un souvenir incroyable du départ à Avoriaz, de la spéciale nocturne à Megève, de la traversée des crêtes du col de Very sous le soleil et avec un vent de près de 100 km/h ». Je suis très fier de tout ce que nous avons produit, et très confiant pour l’avenir, conclu Henry Kam, créateur avec Nicolas Vanier de La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc et patron de toute l’organisation. « La Base Polaire a été une fois de plus l’occasion de souder les liens qui nous unissent avec le 13ème bataillon de chasseurs alpins », rajoute-t-il.
« Les chiens sont fatigués, mais leur état sanitaire est très satisfaisant. Nous avons eu quelques incidents traumatiques, quelques cas de déshydratation et un début d’épidémie de gastro-entérite rapidement traitée », assure Christophe Pfieffer, chef de l’équipe des 7 vétérinaires présents tout au long de la course.
Daniel Juillaguet et Jean-Philippe Pontier terminent premier et deuxième des 6 français en prenant la 6ème et la 8ème position, en 40h50mn et 41h51mn respectivement.
La première femme, Isabelle Travadon, obtient la 13ème place au classement général avec un temps de 44h27mn. Elle a mené la course du début à la fin.
Caroline Morin, la québécoise remporte la lanterne rouge (49h19mn), toujours très heureuse au départs et arrivées, elle a fait le spectacle à chaque étape.

Petter Karlsson, Sweden, won the 4th edition of La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc in 36h3mn before Emil Inauen, Switzerland, and the Norwegian Ketil Reitan.
15h50mn: Larsh, head’s dog of Petter Karlsson crosses the finish line, in Valcenis Lanslebourg. Petter rushes on its dogs to congratulate them. "It's really the most beautiful race! I really want to thank the entire organization and all the volunteers! I do not know another place in the world where such things happen, "said Petter. The audience applauded, the entire organization is present, Dominique Grandjean, director of the race and Henry Kam, patron of the organization hug.
Emil Inauen climbed onto the second step of the podium at 32mn38s of Petter Karlsson. "He was the strongest; he has made an extraordinary race; we meet next year," said the indefatigable competitor. "Dogs are tired, but their health is very satisfactory. We had some traumatic incidents, a few cases of dehydration and the beginnings of an epidemic of gastro enteritis treated quickly," says Christopher Pfieffer, head of the team of 7 veterinarians present throughout the race.
Daniel Juillaguet (with 40h50mn) and Jean-Philippe Pontier (41h51mn) finish first and second French taking the 6th and 8th position.
The first woman, Isabelle Travadon came on the 13th Position. She led the race from start to finish.
Caroline Morin from Canada, Quebec province, won the red lantern in 49h27mn. Always very pleased to start and finish, she made the show at each stage.
